Bernard Lovell

- (1913-2012) an English astronomer . He helped to develop radar during World War Twoand later established the famous radio telescope at Jodrell Bank to study radio waves sent out by objects in other parts of the universe. He was the author of several books on science and astronomy, and was made a knight in 1961.
