Torquay
/ˌtɔːˈkiː/
/ˌtɔːrˈkiː/
- a town by the sea in south Devon, England. It has an unusually mild climate and this has made it a popular place for holidays since the early 19th century. In 1968 Torquay joined together with the small towns of Paignton and Brixham, which are close to it, to form a district called Torbay. This is advertised as 'The English Riviera' because of its warm weather.
