  1. Sky TV was Britain's first satellite television company, owned by Rupert Murdoch. It began broadcasting in 1989 but combined with another company the following year and changed its name to BSkyB (British Sky Broadcasting). It later became Sky UK. It uses the name Sky in several digital television channels, which can only be seen by people who pay a fee each month. Most of the channels broadcast one particular type of programme and have names like Sky Sports, Sky Movies or Sky Arts. Sky also provides internet and mobile phone services.
