Rumpole

- a character who appears in various books and television programmes by the English writer John Mortimer. Rumpole is a bad-tempered old barrister (= an English lawyer) who helps people with their legal cases, especially difficult ones. He is best known from the television series Rumpole of the Bailey (1978-92), in which the actor Leo McKern played Rumpole.
