Rock Hudson

- (1925-85) a US actor who became famous playing tough characters but later made several comedies. His films included Magnificent Obsession (1954), Giant (1956) and Pillow Talk (1959). He also made a television series, McMillan and Wife (1971-8). Hudson was the first Hollywood star who said publicly that he had AIDS, from which he died.
