  1. a British organization that collects money from people and organizations who perform or broadcast music of all kinds and gives it to the people who wrote the music and songs. It started in 1914 as the Performing Right Society, and changed its name to PRS for Music in 2009 when it joined with the Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society.
