Nelson Rockefeller

- (1908-79) the 41st Vice-President of the US (1974-7) and only the second not to be elected. Gerald Ford chose him after replacing Richard Nixon as President. Rockefeller had earlier been Governor of New York (1959-73). He tried and failed three times to be the Republican Party candidate for President. He was the second son of John D Rockefeller Junior.
