  1. (1907-98) a US actor and singer in western films in the 1930s and 1940s. He was known as the 'singing cowboy' and made more than 90 films. His horse was called Champion. Autry also had a popular radio programme. His best-known songs included Tumblin' Tumbleweeds (1935) and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1950).
