Desert Rat

[usually plural] (informal)- a soldier in the British 7th Armoured Division, which fought in North Africa in the Second World War. The Desert Rats were later among the soldiers sent to Kuwait in 1991 during the Gulf War and to Iraq in 2003. The Desert Rats are now members of the 7th Infantry Brigade.
