Captain Marvel

- a US comic book character. He began in 1940 in Whiz Comics and has also appeared in Marvel Comics and DC Comics. He was an ordinary man who changed into a superhero by saying ‘Shazam’. Other characters were Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel, Junior. The stories had unusual titles, such as ‘The Mad Master of the Murder Maze’.
