- Britain's leading chocolate producer. The original Cadbury chocolate factory was built in the centre of Birmingham in 1831 by John Cadbury (1801-89). In 1879 a new factory was built in Bournville in Birmingham, and the company also built houses for its workers in a pleasant environment.
