Brixton

- a district of south London. It is well known as one of the most multicultural parts of London, with large communities of African Caribbean people, and smaller communities from many European, African and Asian countries. In the early 1980s there were violent protests on the streets of Brixton, called the Brixton riots, against the lack of jobs and houses, and the racism of some members of the police.
