  1. an Irish pop group formed in Dublin in 1977. Their successful albums include Boy (1980), The Joshua Tree (1987), Achtung Baby (1991), Pop (1997), All That You Can't Leave Behind (2000) and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (2004). In 2014 U2 made their thirteenth studio album, Songs of Innocence, available in digital form to all iTunes Store customers for free. The group's main singer is Bono (real name Paul Hewson).
