(abbreviation the DNB)
- a book in many volumes containing the life stories of famous British people from the earliest historical period to the present time. It is published by Oxford University Press and was first completed in 1900. A new DNB, the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, was published in print and online in 2004. The online version is updated regularly.
