Sam Bass

- (1851-78) a US outlaw (= criminal) who was called ‘the Robin Hood of Texas’. He was a cowboy before becoming an outlaw. In 1877, his gang stole $60 000 from a train in Nebraska, the largest train robbery in history at that time. Bass died the following year after being shot.
