  1. (1908-85) an English actor. He is especially remembered for his stage roles in plays by Shakespeare and Chekhov, but he also acted in many films, including The Lady Vanishes (1938) and The Browning Version (1950). He was made a knight in 1959. He was married to the actor Rachel Kempson and their children Lynn, Corin and Vanessa Redgrave are also actors.
