Michael Powell

- (1905-90) an English film director. He is best known for the films he made with his partner Emeric Pressburger in the 1940s and 1950s. Films such as The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943) and Black Narcissus (1946) are considered among the greatest British films of the period.
