Li'l Abner

- a popular US newspaper comic strip (1934-77), drawn by Al Capp (1909-79). The stories were about hillbillies who lived in Dogpatch, and the main characters were Li'l (Little) Abner, his beautiful girl friend Daisy Mae and his mother Mammy Yokum. The characters were used for a 1956 Broadway musical show and later a film, both called Li'l Abner.
