Greensleeves
/ˈɡriːnsliːvz/
/ˈɡriːnsliːvz/
- a famous English song that has been popular since the 16th century. Its gentle tune has been arranged in many different musical styles. In the song a man sings sadly that he loves a woman, Lady Greensleeves, but she does not return his love. Some people believe that it was written by Henry VIII, but there is no evidence for this.
