- (1857-1915) a US writer of books on cooking which have been popular for more than a century. Her Boston Cooking School Cook Book (1896) was the first one to use standard measurements and instructions. It developed into Fanny Farmer's Cookbook which is still sold today. compare Mrs Beeton
