- (1924-2005) a British artist born in Scotland of Italian parents, who created paintings, sculptures and mosaics (= pictures made out of small pieces of glass), as well as designing fabrics and wallpaper. He was influenced especially by Paul Klee and the Surrealists and had an important influence on the development of pop art. He was made a knight in 1989.
