  1. a British satirical comedy show, written and performed by Alan Bennett, Peter Cook, Jonathan Miller and Dudley Moore. It was first performed at the Edinburgh International Festival in 1960, and then moved to the West End and Broadway. It had a strong influence on later British comedy.
