- 1to return something to its usual place or to the place where it was before it was moved If you use something, put it back!
- 2to move something to a later time or date synonym postpone The meeting has been put back to next week.
- 3to cause something to be delayed Poor trading figures put back our plans for expansion.
- 4to move the hands of a clock so that they show the correct earlier time Remember to put your clocks back tonight (= because the time has officially changed).
